FAQ

  • The term Midwife means “with woman.” Midwives care for birthing individuals throughout pregnancy, child birth and postpartum. As a Certified Nurse Midwife, I also care for adolescents beginning from menarche and throughout the lifespan. Focusing on the individual needs of each client and using shared decision making, Nurse Midwives provide sexual and reproductive health, family planning , and gynecological care.

  • We support your decision and encourage you to birth wherever you feel most comfortable. If you are planning a hospital birth, we are happy to provide prenatal care and offer labor support at the hospital if you desire. After giving birth, we will continue to care for you postpartum and provide lactation support as needed.

  • Your safety and well-being is our priority. Throughout care, we will continue to assess risk factors and determine if home birth is appropriate and safe. During labor and birth, we will monitor both you and the baby closely to make sure you remain low-risk and healthy. In the rare event of an emergency, our team is trained and equipped to intervene. We carry neonatal resuscitation equipment, IV fluids, medication for excessive bleeding, and oxygen. We will also discuss and develop an emergency plan with you and your family that outlines the plan for transfer if necessary.

  • We currently accept MMA and straight Medicaid plans. We are not contracted with third party FL Medicaid networks but will be accepting select plans soon. Be sure to check back for updates!

  • No. Nurse-Midwives are experts and have been trained in the comprehensive care of birthing people. There are, however, some circumstances where a referral to an obstetrician is necessary. If needed, we will provide recommendations for referrals and/or consult and collaborate with a Physician to ensure you continue to have the care that you need.
